This annual contest is open to all secondary school students enrolled in Hong Kong, with teachers nominating up to 10 pupils as participants. Artists with the highest scores will be shortlisted and will compete for both Judges’ Prize winner ($8,000) and Public Vote Prize winner’s HK$20,000.
Young and emerging arts practitioners who have made noteworthy achievements in their artistic field will receive this prize, along with its prize money of HK$50,000 to support creative works, projects or further studies. This award is made possible through sponsorship by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council and supported by the Hong Kong Cultural Exchange Fund, while selection for winner takes place through a blind peer review process free from external influences or sponsorship by special committees. Young artists use this platform to broaden their exposure and develop their professional careers. Tsui Su-chi was honored for her signature style and contribution to the local art scene; this was her inaugural win of this award. Photographer Andy Chun and painter Chan Wai-hung were also among the finalists. Tsui has been working as a freelance photographer for more than two years, contributing to local magazines and newspapers while having her images showcased at exhibitions and art publications.
