HK Jockey Club has increased prize money for all races next season, with Griffins set to benefit from an 8 percent rise in PP (Privately Purchased) Bonus. Furthermore, BMW Hong Kong Derby and two legs of Four-Year-Old Classic Series including Mile and Cup will carry greater prize pools than ever before, increasing by respective 10 million and 9 million respectively.
South Korean artist Shin Min has won the inaugural MGM Discoveries Art Prize at Art Basel Hong Kong this year, earning herself a prize worth HK$100,000. Shin’s installation Ew! There’s Hair in My Food! was unveiled during Art Basel Hong Kong Discoveries section until 30 March and depicted female workers dressed in uniform and wearing hairnets to represent harsh realities that many female workers must contend with while working high-pressure service and corporate jobs.
South China Morning Post reporters took home 12 awards at the 2024 Hong Kong News Awards. Senior reporter Edith Lin and news editor Jeffie Lam were named top honourees for their investigation into unauthorised structures being added to luxury homes, while Kahon Chan, Natalie Wong and Lilian Cheng won second prize for team reporting coverage of a Dubai prince who decided against opening an office here.

The Shaw Prize has been bestowed upon five researchers for their outstanding achievements in Astronomy, Life Science and Medicine, Mathematical Sciences and Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development.
